Apple will Launch iOS 16 on September 12
Apple announced today that iOS 16, the next major annual software update for the iPhone, will be available for compatible devices on September 12. Although no official release date was announced for iOS 16 at Apple’s keynote event, the official website was updated immediately thereafter. It will work with iPhone 8 and later models.
The lock screen has been completely redesigned in iOS 16, making it far more flexible than in previous versions of iOS. Users will have access to multiple different, customizable lock screens, each with the option to add animated wallpapers and interactive widgets. Another recent iOS addition is the ability for the iPhone’s lock screen to adapt to the device’s active Focus mode.
In addition, a new feature called Live Activities will be added to the lock screen, allowing you to view updates on live events like sports games and the news without having to unlock your phone and navigate to another screen.
Besides the revamped lock screen, the most noticeable changes in iOS 16 can be seen in the various native apps. By way of illustration, you may now go back and change or delete a previously sent text message in Messages, however the recipient will be able to see that anything was changed or deleted even if they do not have access to the original. Schedule outgoing email sending and add reminders for yourself in Mail.
Apple has stated in advance that this year’s iPadOS release will not coincide with the release of the corresponding iOS version, as has been the case in previous years. iPadOS 16 will likely arrive in a few weeks, perhaps coinciding with the release of new iPad hardware in October.
