‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’: Halloween Event’s Complete Guide

With Halloween coming up at the end of the month, October marks the beginning of Spooky Season — not only in real life, but also in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Because the Nintendo game is approaching its annual holiday celebration, players can expect new Halloween content this month. Here’s a rundown of what to expect from Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the run-up to Halloween 2021.

Spooky items and Halloween costumes are available to buy

Halloween means dressing up, and players can dress up their characters and islands in preparation for the holiday. Spooky Set items like Spooky Treats Baskets and Spooky Trees became available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in July, but players had to travel through time to obtain those Halloween items.

Those decorations will be available in Nook’s Cranny throughout October, making them more accessible. If previous years are any indication, Nook’s Cranny should stock Halloween-themed items on a daily basis leading up to Halloween.

In the Able Sisters shop, players can also purchase Halloween costumes. They have witch costumes, devil’s horns, and animal suits for you to enjoy. Players can dress up their characters at any time of year, not just on Halloween! They can also get body paint and new eye colours from the Nook Stop Terminal to complete their costumes.

‘Animal Crossing’ is celebrating Day of the Dead

Although it isn’t Halloween, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is honouring another holiday meant to honour the dead this October: Day of the Dead.

According to Animal Crossing World, a special item will be released in honour of the Mexican holiday. The Marigold Decoration will be available in Nook Shopping’s Special Goods from October 25 to November 3. Day of the Dead takes place on November 1-2, so players have a few days to prepare.

They can also get a Candy-Skull Mask for assisting Gulliver. This item has three variations, according to Nookipedia.

Candy and pumpkins are making a comeback

Happy October, everyone! Are you as excited for Halloween as I am? Keep an eye out for candy in Nook's Cranny all month long, and use pumpkin starts from Leif's stall for this year's crop. I hope you have fun getting into the spirit! pic.twitter.com/RkPZSpe6C4

From 2020 onwards, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will continue to feature Halloween content, including pumpkins and Halloween candy. This October, players will be able to buy Pumpkin Starts from Nook’s Cranny and plant them throughout their islands. Those who want to keep their pumpkin patches open past October should stock up.

This month, Nook’s Cranny will also be selling Halloween candy. Players can prepare for Animal Crossing’s Halloween event by purchasing candy every day.

    ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’

Finally, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is bringing back its Halloween night event after a month of spooky shenanigans. That means Jack will return to the islands of the players with fun tasks to complete in order to unlock Candy, Lollipops, and Halloween items. In addition, two Halloween-themed reactions are available to players: Haunt and Scare.

The villagers on your island will celebrate the arrival of the Pumpkin Czar by dressing up in costumes. Those who are stuck at home on Halloween can celebrate by playing Animal Crossing.

The Halloween event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons starts on October 31 at 5 p.m. local time and lasts until midnight.
