A $270 stimulus cheque is being sent to New York state residents this month
New Yorkers will receive $270 in stimulus money this month.
The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance will distribute the additional NYS child and earned income tax payments by the end of October, as promised by Governor Kathy Hochul last month in an effort to curb increasing inflation. Close to 1.7 million New Yorkers will presumably get a payout.
“With this relief package, we’re making good on our commitment to helping hardworking New Yorkers through the nationwide affordability crisis,” Hochul said. ”This program will put money back in the pockets of nearly two million New York families struggling to make ends meet in the face of the pandemic, inflation, and other rising costs. My administration remains laser-focused on improving affordability statewide, and I thank the Legislature for its partnership in ensuring that New York families get this much-needed financial assistance.”
If you got at least $100 in 2021 from the Empire State child credit or income credit and filed your state income tax return by April 18, 2021, your refund check will be issued automatically.
The department did not specify a specific timeline for payments and indicated that all checks might not be issued until the end of October.
