Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – How to Upgrade the Master Sword
Upgrading the Master Sword in Tears of the Kingdom is a bit less of a hassle than it was in Breath of the Wild, where you had to complete wave-based Trial of the Sword challenges in order to do so (through the Master Trials DLC).
You probably already know that fusing weapons with different materials gives your weapon the attributes related to said substance and is one of the game’s core features. Once the Master Sword has been returned to its former glory, it can be fused with a wide variety of materials, each of which adds a unique enhancement to damage or other benefits.
So, basically, all it takes to improve the Master Sword is to fuse it with some new stuff. Of course, you surely already know that not every substance is the same.
Which Elements Combine Most Perfectly with the Master Sword?
Adding a Light Dragon’s Scale on the sword gives it healing abilities and a +12 damage boost, for example. Meanwhile, the Blue Lizalfos Horn will increase the sword’s damage by 16 points. Next, Silver Lynel Mace Horns deliver an amazing +21 boost to damage and Silver Lynel Saber Horns offer an increase of a startling +25 enhancement to damage.
However, Diamonds or Black Boss Bokoblin Horns are the most potent fusion enhancements. The durability of the weapon will be increased and the best upgrades in the game will be available with these components.
Finally, remember that the Master Sword upgrade option didn’t show up in Breath of the Wild until the game’s extra downloadable content was purchased. If Nintendo continues in this spirit with Tears of the Kingdom, we may see additional Blue Blade upgrades as downloadable content. That’s just us guessing, of course, but it bears mentioning.
