Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – How to Beat Colgera
Colgera’s back is armed with sharp spikes to protect its three vulnerable regions. You must eliminate them all either using a bow to kill them or by swooping down from above and stomping on them.
When Colgera teleports out from under Link, that is your greatest opportunity to shoot it. Occasionally, the creature will vanish into a swirling mass of air and reappear moments later within a white orb.
Dodging its strike will provide you a window of opportunity to target a vulnerable area as it passes you by. If you want to break something in the initial phase, you’ll have to hit it twice. To increase their destructive potential, I advise fusing your arrows with Fire Fruits or some other fire-based item.
When Colgera uses its spike move, it is possible to deal damage by diving into the creature’s weak point. You can attempt diving straight toward the opening created when the creature shoots its spiky scales into the air, in the hopes of breaking through the ice platings.
Attempting to evade the oncoming flying spikes makes this move riskier. You don’t have to wait for the boss to teleport before you can significantly lower Colgera’s HP, though, if you know what you’re doing.
The second phase will begin once you have destroyed the three weak areas, and Colgera will begin generating many tornadoes. To avoid the deadly whirlwinds, you’ll need to give yourself plenty of room to maneuver, but you can also use Tulin’s abilities to make up ground rapidly if necessary.
The boss’s three vulnerable places have returned, and you must destroy them once more to win. Three hits are required to totally demolish a weak location in the second phase. Since the tornadoes will continually be in your way, it will be considerably more difficult to breach the ice membrane with a diving strike.
Don’t panic if you tumble into the Wind Temple below during the battle. If you take out your Paraglider before you leap, you can still take advantage of the powerful updraft. If you want to get back up in the air, just hit the X button twice.
