Zac Efron reveals he had ‘bad depression’ while training for ‘Baywatch’
The 34-year-old actor recently revealed to Men’s Health that he has no plans to return to his “Baywatch.” 2017 physique.
“That ‘Baywatch’ look, I don’t know if that’s really attainable. There’s just too little water in the skin, he told the outlet. “Like, it’s fake, it looks CGI’d. And that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. So, I don’t need to do that. I much prefer to have an extra, you know, two to three percent body fat.”
Efron told Men’s Health that the rigorous preparation for “bad depression” left him exhausted and he battled “Baywatch” The actor believed he was finally over the plague of 2020 and ready to make a change in his approach to physical exercise.

In the magazine’s October 2022 cover story, he stated, “I started to develop insomnia, I fell into a pretty bad depression for a long time. Something about that experience burned me out. I had a really hard time recentering. Ultimately, they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up.”
The star of “High School Musical” overhauled his diet and started getting more sleep. As seen on their Netflix show “Down to Earth.” Efron and fitness expert Darin Olien had been vegan for roughly two years.
Efron left the entertainment industry and relocated to Australia during the outbreak.
The idea of “not having to be in shape all the time” was “at one point, that was a dream of mine,” he admitted. “What if I give up and tell myself, “F—k it?” I decided to give it a shot, and I was successful. Yet, despite my high hopes, I ended up feeling nothing but disappointment. To put it plainly, my body did not feel well. I did not have any sort of vitality or energy. I was sluggish and weighed down by heaviness.”

That’s when Efron took a fresh approach to his healthy living. Now the star is an enthusiastic foam-roller and enjoys beginning his days off with an ice bath.
“This is the most enjoyable time of the day for me. It is the worst before you commit and go for it. After that, you know deep down that you absolutely cannot stand the cold “As a team player, Efron pitched in. To paraphrase, “That’s the simplest philosophy: Anything you don’t want to do, make it a habit.”
Efron also addressed “Jaw-gate,” when he was accused of receiving plastic surgery on his face in 2021.
It happened after he smashed his jaw. He banged it on a granite fountain after racing around his home in socks and sliding. Zac saw a doctor and participated in physical therapy, but he said that as time went on and his jaw recovered, “In other words, the masseters expanded. Their size simply increased exponentially.”
The masseter muscles are employed for clenching the jaw and generally cooperate synergistically with the other muscles in the face.
Efron told the publication that his mother had to call him about the plastic surgery rumours because he does not like to spend too much time on social media. He remarked, “I definitely would not be able to do this work if I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do.”
