YouTube Celebrity Keenan Cahill, 27, Has Died
Multiple sources have confirmed the death of Keenan Cahill, a renowned YouTuber known for his celebrity lip-sync videos. He was 27.
According to TMZ, Cahill’s manager said that the internet personality had open heart surgery on December 15, but that the operation had been complicated and that Cahill was later placed on life support. On Thursday, Cahill’s life support was turned off at a hospital in the Chicago region. In an effort to verify, ET has sought out.
The YouTube star became famous more than ten years ago, when his channel was one of the first to reach 500 million views. There are more than 721,000 people that subscribe to his channel.
His most-viewed lip-sync video, which he posted in November 2010 and has now amassed 60 million views, contains 50 Cent and the rapper’s collaboration with Jeremih, “Down on Me.”
The lip-sync of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” which Cahill posted in August 2010, has over 58 million views and is the second most popular video on his channel.
During the height of his fame, many other famous people made appearances on his channel, including David Guetta, DJ Pauly D from Jersey Shore, Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo, the cast of Glee, LMFAO, and Nick Cannon.
In the same year, he appeared in a director’s cut of Sara Bareilles’ “Uncharted” music video and performed with LMFAO at the American Music Awards.
Cahill released his newest work, a song he wrote and performed with Jillian Jensen titled “Rain,” only three weeks ago.
Cahill’s roughly 20,000 followers on Instagram last saw a message from him on December 12, when he announced the date of his open heart surgery.
As an infant, he was diagnosed with Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome, a very unusual genetic condition. The online medical resource MedlinePlus describes it as a progressive condition that leads to heart difficulties and enlargement, inflammation, and scarring of tissues and organs.
