Ye apparently no longer works for the designer label Balenciaga
A news article claims that Balenciaga has severed ties with Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
Ye’s antisemitic posts were among the several that led to his suspension from Twitter and Instagram, which led to this decision.
Kering, Balenciaga’s parent business, told Women’s Wear Daily on Friday that the label “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” without providing any detail
Ye had worked with Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia, on multiple projects. Kim Kardashian, ex-wife of Ye, has been actively involved with the label as well, appearing in advertising campaigns and saying that she was introduced to the company by her ex-husband.
Twitter and Instagram have just banned Ye for violating company standards with antisemitic tweets. Moreover, he has declared the COVID-19 vaccination to be the “mark of the beast.” and has implied that enslavement can be a deliberate policy choice.
After being banned from all other social media sites, he has made an offer to acquire the conservative social media site Parler.
The rapper’s appearance as a model in Balenciaga’s ready-to-wear show during Paris Fashion Week was hailed as a “iconic moment.” at the time by the label’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia. The next day, he attended the Givenchy show while sporting a black dental brace with the Balenciaga logo.
Even though Ye’s Yeezy collection exhibition in Paris featured a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt, he received criticism for wearing it that week. The Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that monitors hate groups, has labeled White Lives Matter as a neo-Nazi organization.
Ye has severed Yeezy’s links with Gap in recent weeks and told Bloomberg he intends to sever ties with his business suppliers. Adidas has suspended its footwear contract with Ye, and JPMorganChase has severed ties with him, but the latter separation was already in the works before Ye’s antisemitic statements.
