WWE SummerSlam: Liv Morgan vs Ronda Rousey SmackDown Women’s Title Match Official
On tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown, Liv Morgan celebrated winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money In The Bank, but it didn’t take long for two challengers, Natalya and Ronda Rousey, to enter the picture. At Money in the Bank, Natalya and Rousey squared off, and Rousey prevailed; however, Morgan cashed in her briefcase and defeated Rousey to win the new SmackDown Women’s Championship. Rousey faced Morgan and Natalya on SmackDown tonight, and now WWE has set their rematch for SummerSlam as official.
While Rousey hadn’t previously challenged Morgan during the event, WWE has now made the bout official for SummerSlam after she forced Natalya to submit to the Ankle Lock in an unexpected match on tonight’s episode. Additionally, there is always the possibility that this match will end in a Triple Threat, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Below is a link to the match’s official WWE press release.
That all changed on July 2nd, though, when the tenacious Morgan triumphed in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match and claimed the contract for a shot at the championship. Later that evening, Morgan made an appearance and profited from The Rowdy One only moments after Rousey’s dramatic title retention victory over Natalya. Liv unexpectedly kicked herself free and rolled up Rousey to secure the three-count and win her maiden championship after being caught in Rousey’s crippling ankle lock for several breath-taking seconds.
When Rousey is at her best, can Liv defeat her? Find out at SummerSlam, which will be broadcast LIVE on Saturday, July 30 at 8 ET/5 PT on WWE Network worldwide on Peacock in the US.
