WWE Reportedly Releases Sasha Banks
The WWE, Sasha Banks, and Naomi feud has been relatively quiet for a while, but according to a new claim from Raj Giri, Sasha Banks has been dismissed by WWE. “I’m hearing Sasha Banks has been released. I’m not sure if it was at his request or on WWE’s end,” Giri said. Banks have yet to comment on the situation, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as she does. If this turns out to be true, Banks will be subjected to a 90-day non-compete, as has been the case with previous releases. After 90 days, Banks (whose real name is Mercedes Varnado) will be free to join any company she chooses, with AEW and Impact Wrestling being among the most likely destinations.
This all started a few weeks back, when Banks and her WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships partner Naomi walked out of the main event of a Monday Night Raw, despite the fact that they had been advertised for the night. Banks and Naomi haven’t spoken publicly about what transpired, but sources suggest there was tension between them as a team and the division as a whole.
WWE fans clearly want to see the stars return, and there are plenty of AEW and Impact Wrestling fans who want to see them make a move as well, and now Banks will get the chance to do so.
