WWE 2K23: Release date, platforms, editions, pre-order, and more details
Despite its popularity, the WWE video game series has had a tumultuous history. While 2019’s WWE 2K20 was a great addition to the franchise, 2020’s WWE 2K Battlegrounds was a major downgrade. For the first time in a long time, WWE 2K22 has improved upon previous installments in terms of visuals, playability, and extra content. There were many unanswered questions regarding the future of the series due to the numerous rumors and claims about WWE and publisher 2K. Here’s the lowdown on the upcoming WWE 2K23 game that stars John Cena.
WWE 2K23 Release date
Many have predicted that March 17, 2023, will be the release date for WWE 2K23.
WWE 2K23 Platforms
It has been revealed that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, as well as the PC, will all be getting WWE 2K23. Unfortunately, there are no plans to release it on the Switch.
WWE 2K23 Gameplay
When compared to WWE 2K22, WWE 2K23 will most likely be an improvement and expansion of that game’s formula. In these battles, you’ll use realistic physics and animations to perform a wide variety of special actions, including dodging, blocking, breaking, and striking. We anticipate not just the return of fan favorites like MyRISE and MyGM as well as Showcase, Royal Rumble, and Universe Mode but also the introduction of some exciting new features. Players have asked for a number of changes, including the ability to create their own entrances, to have their rosters shared with others, and for the AI to be more engaging.
In honor of this year’s cover star, John Cena, Showcase mode will focus on his accomplishments in the wrestling industry. On the other hand, gamers will control the superstar’s rivals in decisive matchups instead of playing as the superstar themselves. WarGames is the name of the next new game mode. Two teams of three or four wrestlers battle it out in a steel cage with two rings side by side. MyGM, MyFaction, and MyRise are all modes that have returned. Apart from Cena, the only other confirmed competitors in WWE 2K23 are Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey, Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Hulk Hogan. While the exact roster is still unknown, we do know that several wrestlers who were in WWE 2K22 but have since left WWE and joined AEW will not be returning for WWE 2K23. Among these are:
- Ariya Daivari
- Cesaro
- Isiah Scott
- Jake Roberts
- Jeff Hardy
- Keith Lee
- Kyle O’Reilly
- Murphy
- Samoa Joe
- William Regal
- Ember Moon
- Toni Storm
