Will Smith is in discussions with Netflix once more to create a biopic on his life
It has been claimed that Will Smith has resumed negotiations with Netflix for the development and future distribution of the actor’s biopic, which had been put on hold after Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock while Rock was presenting an award at the Oscars.
Will Smith, who just won an Oscar for best actor, was in talks with multiple streaming services about doing a biopic of his life before he slapped Chris Rock onstage at the ceremony.
Thankfully for Smith, after his apologies and a few months away from the spotlight, Netflix is eager to sit back at the table and discuss the project, with the incident at the Academy Awards certainly playing a significant role in this production as well.
Now that Will Smith seems contrite and eager to reclaim the trust of the public and his peers, Apple might be the next streaming service to resume negotiations with Smith.
Smith has indicated that the worst blow to his psyche was hearing the fans’ dismay, and he has subsequently apologised to his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Chris Rock, and everyone else who was there or who watched him on TV.
Even though he is aware that Chris Rock has not forgiven him, he has made it clear that he is eager to talk to Rock whenever Rock is ready to do so.
Will Smith’s latest Instagram post, in which he approaches the subject from a comedic perspective, has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback, suggesting that the public is finally ready to accept him again.
