Have you ever wondered what is parkour and what are the ways one can learn it? Today we will bring you answers to all such questions. Parkour is an action-packed sport that uses balance and force to defy gravity. It is one of the world’s most popular urban activities. This sport incorporates sprinting, vaulting, leaping, climbing, and other activities to overcome barriers.

Importantly, parkour isn’t simply about becoming fit. Rather, it involves training your mind to imagine possibilities when none appear. Despite its risky and dangerous exploits, parkour can be learned on your own. All you need is freedom as your guide. Anyone can overcome adversity. However, you can’t expect to become a parkour expert overnight. Like other approaches, there is a learning curve.

What Is Parkour & How To Learn It?

Defining ‘Parkour’ & several ways to learn it by yourself

    1. Set your thoughts.

Parkour is a sport that needs excellent coordination and balance. To develop parkour techniques, you must first clean and clear your thoughts of any impediments. This includes any parkour theories you may have. To learn parkour, you need a calm mind and a listening ear. To flourish and learn rapidly, you must connect with your inner child’s need to explore. To recognize your limitations and gain confidence in your abilities requires mental preparation. Parkour incorporates some wild acrobatics, so being cautious might help avoid accidents.

    1. Get fit

Get in fit for parkour. In this scenario, becoming fit means gaining endurance, not decreasing weight. Begin with simple exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and squats. Before challenging yourself, you should be able to accomplish 25 push-ups, 5 pull-ups, and 50 squats. You should also learn to keep your equilibrium while navigating obstacles. Train yourself to concentrate on the task at hand, avoid distractions, and take little steps.

    1. Learn shoulder rolls and secure landings

While not all safety standards apply to parkour, you should still be cautious. Parkour incorporates several vertical motions and severe leaps, which may cause significant injuries if not executed correctly. To avoid these dangers, practice appropriate landings and shoulder rolls. Ideally, you should be between 12 and 1 meter tall. Remember to never roll on your back no matter what. It is highly advised to avoid doing this.

    1. Learn to leap, vault and climb

You may start leaping, vaulting, and climbing when you learn to land and roll securely. Learning these abilities helps you navigate barriers safely. For other movements, like vaulting, a single misstep might result in significant harm. Start cautiously and gradually increase distance while assessing your limitations. If you want to attempt wall runs, start slowly.

    1. Find your style

Everyone that does parkour, they all have their own unique style and approach. Once you start practicing, you’ll soon realize which motions suit you best, allowing you to establish your own technique. Despite its dangers parkour must be enjoyable. Excelling requires developing a style that simply works for your physique. Only regular practice can help you master and improve your moves, and even scale to increasingly challenging ones.

In conclusion, there are many chances for ambitious free runners to shine. Parkour is thrilling because it lets you grow your thinking while having fun. Be consistent, practice safe maneuvering, and trust yourself to conquer any challenge.

Note- We do not take any responsibility if you cause yourself any mental or physical damage while doing parkour. All accomplished parkour athletes are professionals and we would suggest you to take training from them before trying to dive into this art form especially if you plan on pursuing it professionally.
