Fans haven’t heard much about the impending live-action Addams Family series since it premiered on Wednesday, but a new trailer teases the first official look, which will be released next week.
Thing, the iconic creature from the series who is essentially a sentient hand, was featured in a new video shared by the official Twitter account for the Wednesday series. Thing deciphers a message in the film, revealing that the first official glimpse at Wednesday will take place on June 6 as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week event.

“While also thwarting a monstrous killing spree terrorising the local town and solving the supernatural mystery that engulfed her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships with the strange and diverse student body,” reads the synopsis, “the series will chart the titular heroine’s years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy as she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability.”

Wednesday is an eight-episode comedy about coming of age that will be a detective, supernaturally laced mystery. Jenna Ortega (Yes Day) will star as Morticia Addams, with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, and George Burcea as Lurch in the live-action series.

Christina Ricci, who has been nominated for Golden Globes and Emmys, will also play a new character. In the early 1990s, she was known for playing Wednesday Addams.
Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa, Emmy Myers, Naomi J. Ogawa, Joy Sunday, and Percy Hynes White have been cast as the otherworldly students at Nevermore Academy. Meanwhile, Riki, Gwendoline Christie, and Gwendoline Christie Christie will play Principal Larissa Weems, Morticia’s old classmate who still has an axe to grind. Lindhome and Jamie McShane have been cast as members of the Nevermore Academy staff, with Christie slated to portray Principal Larissa Weems, Morticia’s former classmate who still has an axe to grind.
Other details
Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride) executive produces and directs Wednesday, his first television film. For Illumination Entertainment, the acclaimed filmmaker was originally attached to create and produce an animated Addams Family picture. The project was eventually cancelled three years after it was revealed.
