Watch: Three Arkansas police officers assaulted a helpless detainee
On Sunday, two Arkansas police officers from Crawford County and one from Mulberry were caught on camera brutally punching a man they had already restrained. According to THV11, the footage was shot in the Mulberry County, Arkansas, parking lot of The Kountry Xpress.
According to the Southwest Times Record, the footage was captured by a social media user by the name of Naomi Ruth Johnson. The images show three police officers on top of the man, who is already handcuffed, and striking him repeatedly in the face and hip.
The man was repeatedly hit in the head and kneed in the side; the Arkansas State Police have claimed that they are already investigating the crime. An officer can be seen pointing at the cameraman at the end of the clip and telling him to stop filming.
On Sunday, police got a report of a guy who had threatened workers at a convenience shop before riding off on a bicycle in the direction of Mulberry.
The victim’s identity has not been disclosed, but news accounts claim that he was taken into custody following the assault and later taken to a nearby hospital, where his health is unknown.
Several charges, according to Jimmy Damante, have been filed against the man.
He is charged with terroristic threats, resisting arrest, second-degree assault, breaking and entering, aggravated assault, and possession of a criminal instrument, according to Crawford County Sheriff Jimmy Damante.
“In reference to the video circulating on social media involving two Crawford County officers, we have requested that the Arkansas State Police conduct the investigation and the officers have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation,” the document reads. I will take action against those responsible, as I do with all of my staff.
