Passengers on United Airlines now have additional time to spend their trip credits. Future flight credits and electronic travel certificates are being extended by the airline.
United Airlines offers two sorts of credits, each of which differs in terms of how they are utilised and the timeframe in which they must be used. If you cancel a flight or switch to a less priced flight, you’ll get a future flight credit.
As a thank you for offering your seat or as a show of goodwill, you may be given an electronic travel certificate. You may have received one in the past if you cancelled a flight.
Customers who booked a trip that was later cancelled or who switched their ticket to a cheaper airline and got the fare difference as credit are the only ones who can use future flight credits.
Future flight credits are usually only good for a year, but they’ve been extended until December 31, 2022. All airline tickets purchased between May 1, 2019, and December 31, 2021, are eligible for the extension.
On the other hand, electronic travel certificates can be transferred to other travellers. They are valid for a period of up to two years (24 months) from the date of issue.
Electronic travel certificates that expire between August 1 and December 31 this year will be valid until the end of 2022, according to a United representative.
