Toys R Us has reopened its doors in nine states
Toys R Us, the renowned children’s toy retailer, has returned to Macy’s outlets in nine states,
The business announced all shops would be finished by October 15—just in time for the busy holiday shopping season—in a move akin to Christmas in July.
Current sites are in California, Georgia, New Jersey, Illinois, Nevada, Louisiana, New York, Maryland and Missouri, according to the Macy’s website. The list also includes the upcoming openings of new locations across the nation.
A 1,000 square-foot shop can have up to a 10,000-square-foot retail space. Larger facilities named “flagship locations” will be in Atlanta, Chicago, Honolulu, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco.
Macy’s said stores might add another 500 to 3,000 square feet during the holiday season to offer “an even wider assortment of products.”
The deal came after Toys R Us liquidated its final two remaining locations in New Jersey and Texas in January 2021 owing to the coronavirus outbreak. Both sites debuted in late 2019 and were the only Toys R Us stores in the country following the company’s chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 2017 and its U.S. and U.K. store closures in 2018.
Since last August, Macy’s shoppers shopped the Toys R Us variety of products only online prior to the store’s openings.
In the first quarter of 2022, Macy’s stated earnings were 15 times higher than in the corresponding period before the Toys’R’Us relationship, according to a Macy’s announcement.
