Ticketmaster cancels Taylor Swift tour tickets for the public, fans not happy
There have been reports of troubles with the presale and technical difficulties with purchasing tickets for Taylor Swift’s The Eras tour, and on Thursday, Ticketmaster confirmed that the public sale of tickets has been cancelled. It was planned that they will be available for purchase beginning on Friday.
They Tweeted “Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow’s public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been cancelled,”
As for the problems they raised and whether or not ticket sales would increase in the future, the company has remained silent.
Some fans on Tuesday who had Verified Fan presale codes ran into technological difficulties or were held up in Ticketmaster’s virtual waiting area, which was frustrating for everyone involved. Other presale events had to be rescheduled for later that day or the next day due to the enormous interest in the tour.
Ticketmaster issued a statement on Thursday, right before they called off the general sale, explaining what had happened and laying the blame on the site’s record-breaking demand and people who had gotten in without Verified Fan access badges.
They added in a press release that Taylor Swift’s “”The Eras on sale made one thing clear: Taylor Swift is an unstoppable force and continues to set records,” was made plain by the sales of the Eras. While we work hard to simplify the ticket purchasing process for our devoted fans, many have experienced difficulties in doing so while attempting to purchase Eras Tour tickets.
The company claims that more than 3.5 million people registered in advance for the chance to win a Verified Fan access ticket. About 1.5 million people were given codes, and the number of people on the waiting list continues to grow.
