Threats from Taylor Swift Fans has prompted John Mayer to respond
Taylor Swift’s “Dear John” purported subject, John Mayer, has recently received threatening letters from Swifties.
According to the latest reports, John Mayer isn’t a man to be toyed with.
Fans of Taylor Swift’s hitting Mayer with threats after the singer released an extended version of her song “All Too Well,” which is alleged to be about Gyllenhaal.
@hoeforlouaylor released their Mayer DM screenshots on Twitter before deciding to go private. According to images of the user’s Instagram DMs, the user told the singer, “f—k yourself you ugly bitch I hope you choke on something.”
Mayer’s Twitter account appeared to speak directly to a user who had just expressed their displeasure with the company.
“I’ve been getting so many messages like these the past couple days,” a message sent from Mayer’s account read, per the screenshots. “I’m not upset, I just tend to have a curious mind and feel compelled to ask. Do you really hope that I die?”
Instagram user apologised to Swiftie and reassured Mayer, 44, that he wasn’t offended by what they said, stating he merely “wanted to understand” why some people were sending threatening posts “without taking into account that I might see it and be affected by it.”
The Instagram user wrote back “nobody really thought” Mayer would see those comments.
According to the screenshots, he wrote, “There was some healing today!” “It’s 100 percent okay. Go forth and live happy and healthy!”
Rumored ex-boyfriend and “Dear John” topic John Mayer has previously spoken to Swift’s adoring fans. As early as this year, when he joined TikTok for the first time, Mayer posted a video to his channel with the message, “POV: You’re berating me and I’m hearing you out.”
“Dear John” is featured on Swift’s 2010 album Speak Now, which is currently being re-recorded.
According to Rolling Stone, Mayer said he was “really humiliated” by the song’s lyrics in 2012.
At the moment, he said, “I didn’t deserve it.” “I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
Since the breakup, it appears that Mayer has moved on and gotten over it. On SiriusXM’s Radio Andy in February, he said he would be “jazzed” if his ex-girlfriends kept writing songs about him.
At some time in one’s adolescence or early adulthood, “these things have to sort of revert,” he said.
