“The Witcher 4′ – Confirmed, CD Projekt Red Enters Preproduction, Issues Statement”
While little is known about the upcoming The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the game is already in preproduction.
The news was revealed in a blog post by CD Projekt Red, which stated that the studio had completed its research phase for the highly anticipated upcoming game
president Adam Kiciski said in the post
“We are very excited to revisit the universe that has so profoundly shaped our history,” said president Adam Kiciski in the post. “We just finished the research phase for the first game in the new Witcher saga, which means that all future development costs will be capitalised on our balance sheet.”
Given that the game is only now entering preproduction, it’s safe to assume that the game will not be released for many years. The Witcher 4’s only confirmed features are that it will run on Unreal Engine 5 and that it will feature a new school, the School of the Lynx, after CD Projekt Red released a teaser image of a Lynx medallion, leading many to believe that Ciri would be the game’s new protagonist.
In other Witcher news, CD Projekt Red is planning to release an updated version of the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 5, Xbox One X|S, and PC later this year.
