The Verzuz with Jay-Z is out of the question for Kanye West, and here’s why
This year’s “Drink Champs” interview with Kanye West was one of the most talked-about. He spoke to DJ EFN and N.O.R.E. about anything and everything, from the Taylor Swift incident to the creation of a school and orphanage, to his many conflicts with his peers.
Throughout the interview, JAY-Z was mentioned numerous times, particularly during Kanye’s time at Roc-A-Fella Records, where he was a major influence. When it came to “Big Brother,” a song about Ye’s relationship with his ex-label boss turned family, they discussed it. Biggs, the co-founder of Roc A Fella, was also in the building, making it even better.
When asked if Kanye West would appear on a “Verzuz” episode in the future, he made it clear that he would win every fight. It was even suggested that he would have to fight multiple versions of himself or groups of his peers at the same time. Apart from quoestions about Drake, he was asked if JAY-Z would ever be considered a rival, and Kanye made sure to pay homage to his older counterpart and fellow billionaire:
The long-awaited release of Ye’s tenth studio album, Donda, was finally made possible in August following a few memorable stadium listening sessions. 27 tracks were produced by a wide range of artists including JAY-Z, Playboi Carti, Jay Electronica, Roddy Ricch and Lil Baby, as well as the Weeknd and DaBaby. 309,000 album equivalent units in the first week made it a huge commercial success for the Chicago legend, giving him his tenth Billboard 200 No. 1 spot. Ye has also received a Gold certification as a result of the project.
