The upcoming horror epic “Weapons” will star Pedro Pascal
In the last five years, Pedro Pascal has exploded onto the Hollywood scene. It seems like he’s been cast in a new project every single day recently. According to an exclusive story from The Hollywood Reporter, the hero of The Last of Us is returning to the horror genre with the upcoming thriller Weapon, directed by Barbarian’s Zach Cregger.
We don’t know much about Weapon at this time, including what Pascal will be doing in the film, but we do know that it’s “an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the actor-packed showcase by director Paul Thomas Anderson from 1999.” Cregger wrote the script, and he and Roy Lee, J.D. Lifshitz, and Raphael Margules of Barbarian will produce the film. Intent to begin firing this Fall.
One of the many unexpectedly great horror films of 2022 was “Barbarian,” which came out in September of that year. It was an atmospheric horror thriller with memorable characters who expertly manipulated genre conventions, and it dealt with subjects that made us reevaluate our assumptions about the horror genre as a whole. It was great for those in search of a frightful good time as well as those who sought some deeper significance behind the standard heap of dead bodies. Because of this, the lack of a Blu-ray release of the film is disappointing. After making $45 million on a budget of only $4.5 million, Cregger shot to prominence as one of the most talked-about horror movie stars. Early this year, there was a bidding battle because of this. A conflict which New Line triumphed in the end.
