No one is under any illusions about the quality of the Sims 4 camera. Even so, Maxis gave players the choice to use the Sims 3 camera, which should be taken as a vote of confidence in the newer game. Nevertheless this still doesn’t fix the game’s most irritating camera issues, such as the fact that you can’t see the entire front of your two-story house without the camera jumping about. As such, this article will teach you how to stabilise your Sims 4 camera so that you can take clearer screenshots and construct with more precision.

The Sims 4 – How To Fix Bouncing Camera

The Sims 4’s bouncing camera can be seen in action in this adorable beginner home I made to prove you’ve come to the correct spot! As you can see, the top of the roof is missing from the screenshot. Nevertheless, if I move the camera forward by a fraction of an inch, I get the view in the screenshot below.

    How to do it

Thankfully, any PC or Mac gamer may use a fairly simple DIY tweak to make the camera more cooperative. This instruction may appear challenging at first if you have never programmed before, but don’t worry; you won’t make an error.

    Find Camera File

The most time-consuming component of this “hack” is tracking down the file you need to edit, camera.ini. Whether you installed the game via a CD, Origin, or Steam might affect where the files end up on your computer.

    On Mac

Just right-click (or CMD+click) on the Sims 4 game icon to access the menu. Choose the option to “show package contents” from the menu. See the Page of Open Contents > Res. The camera.ini configuration file is located there.

    On PC

The camera may be located by using the search bar in Windows Explorer.

ini file, but your computer might not be able to find it since it’s buried so far down in files. To do so, use your file manager and navigate to C:Program Files (x86). The next steps are dependent on how you set up the game.

Steam: Look for and open Steam > Steamapps > Common > The Sims 4.
Origin: Look for and open Origin Games > The Sims 4.
CD: Look for and open EA Games > The Sims 4.

Go to Game > Bin > Res once you’ve located The Sims 4 folder. Have a look at the camera.  ini file there.

    Take Backup

There won’t be any advanced camera work done.

you may make changes to your.ini file without worrying about harming anything. Be sure to save a copy of the file before making any edits, though. If you want to accomplish that, just press and hold the camera button. Click on the file’s extension (.ini) and open it in Notepad (or TextEdit on a Mac).

Choose “Save As” from the File menu to create a backup of the camera.

Move the ini file to a different directory. I put mine in a “Backup” folder on my computer’s desktop, so I can quickly access it if I ever need to. You should exit Notepad or TextEdit after saving a backup copy of the file.

    Change the Code

Camera.ini may be accessed again under the Game > Bin > Res folder. To find anything, hit Ctrl+F (or CMD+F on a Mac) and enter.

    IgnoreLotLevel

After you hit the enter key, a line of code will appear that reads:

    IgnoreLotLevel = false

Change “false” to “true,” then hit the Find Next button. Just replace all occurrences of “false” in “IgnoreLotLevel” with “true” three more times. Save the camera. ini (not Save As), then exit the programme.

Launch the game, navigate to one of your constructed Sims, and experiment with the camera. Something like this, at least:

In return for your hard labor, you’ll be able to capture focused screenshots that do justice to your creations and may be proudly displayed to others. You may now construct or display your lot without having to constantly adjust the camera.

But, keep in mind that every time you update the game or install a new expansion pack, you’ll need to perform this patch again (and change your backup file). When your camera starts jiggling about again, you’ll know it’s time to take a picture.
