The Sims 4: How to Baby Proof House

The first phases of a Sim’s parenting life have been pretty benign for the most part, considering that newborns can only be placed in the comfort of bassinets. Nevertheless, now these newborns have greater free-roaming capability owing to a new update that furthers the realism of the renowned franchise. Therefore, to prepare for this next challenge, here’s how to baby proof your house in The Sims 4.

The Sims 4: How to Baby Proof House

The Sims 4 allows players to apply baby proofing by selecting a door or gate and clicking “Lock For…”

If you do this, your little family member will no longer be allowed to enter those doors, which will be marked with the typical “can’t walk there” indicator. The brand new In the (Safety) Zone Baby Fence is also available for players to test out; it’s a brightly coloured playpen suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Toddlers can flee these spaces, despite of baby proofing, so keep an eye out for these youngins. The lack of these protections in common household items such as toilets and dressers is unfortunate, but they need not worry about being hurt by using these items. It is still possible for players to physically lock a door or gate, or to restrict a specific Sim’s movement within a space, using the methods they are accustomed to.

Is It Necessary to Baby-Proof Your Sims 4 Home?

Whilst baby proofing in The Sims 4 isn’t necessary to live the life of a parent, it can come in handy when your child has to be contained in a certain area. Those who need to leave the room temporarily might secure the door or playpen with a lock to prevent the child from escaping.

It’s up to the player to decide if they want to baby-proof their home, and if they don’t, they can still keep an eye on their loved ones by checking their status at the game’s bottom.
