“The Silent Hill – Movie Director Has Completed the Script for a Third Entry”
Fans of Silent Hill may have another new project to anticipate and/or fear. Christophe Gans, the director of the 2006 adaptation of the legendary horror franchise, said in an interview with Jeux Video translated by Video Game Chronicle that he had a script in hand for a new film based on the games. The script was written by Gans amid the global pandemic’s lockdown.
The Silent Hill: Expected Release date
He talked about how he would write a modern-day Silent Hill film. However, his wording is a touch ambiguous, as it’s unclear whether it will be released next year or simply that he would like it to be released next year.
The Silent Hill: Synopsis
Silent Hill is similar to The Twilight Zone in that it takes place in a fourth dimension where anything can happen. I worked on a new Silent Hill, one set in the year 2023 – because the film is set to be released the following year – rather than the Silent Hill I imagined in 2006. It’s a Silent Hill for today’s audiences while yet paying homage to the series.”
After that, Gans went on to talk about how Silent Hill was ahead of its time.
“I’m trying to think about what I’ve seen recently in horror films, what’s most creative and amazing, and see if Silent Hill has the seeds, or even the expression of that,” Gans explained. “Silent Hill has always been a unique and forward-thinking game.”
While there are no more facts about the film save the script, or even if it will be made,
Other details
While neither of the previous Silent Hill films could be considered classics (the second of which Gans was not involved with), the visuals were a standout and felt like they were lifted directly from the mainline games at times. This is thanks to Christophe Gans’ love for the franchise. Following a video interview with Konami in which he demonstrated his affection for the franchise, he was granted the rights to adapt the series.
