The second season of Shadow and Bone will premiere in 2023
The first teaser for the upcoming second season of Shadow and Bone can now be viewed on Netflix. The first-look trailer for the show’s upcoming season, which was shown for the first time at Tudum 2022, only provides the barest of glimpses at what’s to come. However, despite only being forty seconds long, it manages to cram a significant amount of video into its brief time, with multiple rapid cuts providing a tantalizing preview of what will happen in the second installment of the series.
Due to the rapid-fire style of this video, there is not much that we can actually gain from it. However, there are a few things contained here that are certain to stimulate the interest of viewers of the popular show streaming on Netflix. We get our first glimpses of all of the major characters that will be appearing in the second season of Shadow and Bone, including Patrick Gibson’s portrayal of Nikolai Lantsov; Lewis Tan’s portrayal of Tolya Yul-Battar; Anna Leong Brophy’s portrayal of Tamar Kir-Battar; and Jack Wolfe’s role as Wylan Hendriks.
The film also shows that the upcoming episode of the show will have a significant amount of action and drama that is based on fantasy settings. The character of Mal, played by Archie Renaux, is seen fleeing from the authorities; the character of Matthias, played by Calahan Skogman, is seen being shackled and carried away; and Wylan is seen forming forces with the Dregs. In addition, we see Nikolai tell Jessie Mei Li’s Alina Starkov that she is a symbol, and we see Ben Barnes’s character, the Darkling, ask someone what they are prepared to give up in order to accomplish their objectives. These are just two of the many exciting set-piece moments that we see.
There was no mention of a release date accompanied by the sneak peek, but Netflix did confirm that the second season of Shadow and Bone will be available to stream sometime in 2023. Early in the month of June marked the conclusion of filming for the second season, which means that post-production work is well underway. The first look trailer does not include any visual effects or computer graphics, but it is likely that these are currently being worked on behind the scenes (or, rather, typed).
