The Sea Beast: Release Date, Trailer, Voice Cast, and Latest News
It is great to see Netflix making inroads in the animation industry. Both Klaus, I Lost My Body and The Mitchells vs. the Machines, both of which they animated themselves, were up for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2018. The animated picture The Sea Beast is the second great film to be released this year on the streaming platform after Richard Linklater’s Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood.
The Sea Beast is an action flick where sea monster hunters are humanity’s last line of defence against a world overrun by sea monsters. Jacob Holland, a famous hero who hunted sea monsters, is the film’s protagonist. After a little girl named Maisie Brumble stows away on Holland’s ship and strikes up an unexpected connection with a terrible sea monster, the captain’s life is turned upside down. Now Holland and the girl must band together, venture into unfamiliar seas, and battle any horrors they may encounter.
In 2018, it was revealed that Jacob and the Sea Beast will be released. Nell Benjamin and Chris Williams penned the screenplay for the movie. Williams not only helmed but also produced the picture alongside Jed Schlanger and executive produced with Melissa Cobb.

The Sea Beast: Trailer
On March 30, 2022, Netflix dropped the official teaser for The Sea Beast, then on June 7, 2022, they dropped the official trailer. In the preview, we meet Maisie Brumble, who is immersed in a novel about a period when sea animals terrorised the land and oceans and no one could stay out of harm’s way. Maisie is so pleased by Jacob’s success that she immediately offers to join his crew once they meet. Jacob, sensibly, refuses to take a kid along on his mission to hunt monsters, so he sends the girl go.
Jacob has intended to abandon Maisie at the nearest port, but she has shown to be rather robust. She says he joined the ship when he was her age and now look at him. Another crew member agrees with Jacob that they have a lot in common, telling him that he sees the same fire in her that he used to see in him (Jacob). While everything is happening, Jacob is battling a massive sea monster that keeps attacking the ship. And it seems like Maisie has a different perspective on monsters than Jacob does; she even informs him that being a hero does not make his approach any less flawed.
