The schedule for the Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours in May 2023
Niantic has announced the May 2023 schedule for Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours. We should expect increased appearances from Alolan Geodude, Ponyta, and Bellsprout, so there is a lot to look forward to.
Pokemon Go’s Spotlight Hour is a popular weekly event hosted by Niantic. One Pokemon will be featured each week, with increased spawn rates and an extra bonus for a limited time.
During that hour, Trainers can catch as many of that species as possible, making it easier to complete the Pokedex and amass enough Candy to evolve a Pokemon.
There will also be a Community Day on May 21 to coincide with these Spotlight Hours. These gatherings are planned so that Trainers can compete with one another in catching, evolving, and fighting Pokémon.
This is the complete Spotlight Hour program for the month of May, 2023.
In what hour will Pokemon be featured next? Time, date, and bonus information
Niantic has announced that the next Alolan Geodude Spotlight Hour will go live on May 2, 2023.
Between 6 and 7 o’clock in the evening, Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild. This ensures that you can take part and watch it regardless of where in the world you happen to be playing.
As an added benefit, during this event, players can earn Double Catch XP.

Tips for getting ready for Pokemon Go’s Alolan Geodude Spotlight Hour
There are a few things you can do ahead of time to make the most of the 60 minutes you have during the Spotlight Hours:
- If you want to capture a bunch of Pokemon during Spotlight Hour, you’d better stock up on Poke Balls.
- Get enough of Berries to increase your Candy haul or make capturing simpler.
- Make place in your Pokemon Storage Box for the inevitable influx of new Pokemon.
- Put aside some of your hard-earned PokeCoins to buy some Incense for the gathering.
If you have any spare Lucky Eggs or Star Pieces, now is the time to use them to maximize the experience and Stardust you gain during the Spotlight Hours.
Spotlight Hour Spawn Rate & Shiny Rate
You’ll have lots of chances to catch each Spotlight Hour Pokemon during these events, especially if you use Incense and Lures, because the spawn rate of each species is increased for 60 minutes.
The chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon during a Spotlight Hour is higher than it would be during a regular hour because there will be more of them around.
The easiest way to find Shinies during Spotlight Hours is to go wandering with an Incense. If a Pokemon isn’t Shiny, don’t waste your time tapping on it; instead, move on to the next one.
Keep in mind that you can now use the Shiny Pokemon classifications in the Pokedex to separate your collection.
