The official trailer for ‘Pam & Tommy’ shows the couple’s rapid romance and the consequences of the intimate tape scandal
No early platform would have allowed the “greatest love story ever sold”
The debut trailer for the Hulu series “Pam & Tommy,” dropped Wednesday, giving fans a deeper look at the 1995 viral video scandal between “Baywatch” star Pamela Anderson and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
Disgruntled employee Rand Gauthier, played by Seth Rogen, decides to leak the tape online after being informed “nobody’s ever getting rich off a celebrity sex tape”.
“What if we sold it some place nobody could find us?” Gauthier remarks in a meeting with his accomplice in crime and porn mogul Milton Ingley (Nick Offerman).
Pirated copies of Anderson and Lee’s sex tape spread like wildfire online, leading to a frightened Anderson, played by Lily James, finding the tape while on the set of “Baywatch.”
Anderson and Lee (Sebastian Stan) work feverishly to block the video’s dissemination.
“I’m on that tape, same as you,” Lee assures his wife. “No, not like me you’re not,” Anderson says.
The teaser also captures the emotional toll of Anderson’s shattering public image and the sex video revelation in painful detail. “Everyone wants me beautiful and perfect,” Anderson adds.
“It’s all I do.” Anderson says when asked if she feels pressured to impress others.
According to the trailer, Anderson is being interrogated about her relationship with Lee while a JVC camera records the conversation.
“I liked his smile,” Anderson says of Lee’s first impression. “I still do.”
The true rock-star pair had a four-day whirlwind romance and married in February 1995. The couple’s honeymoon sex tape was stolen and released online.
Taylor Schilling, Andrew Dice Clay, Pepi Sonuga, Spenser Granese, and Mozhan Marnò.
Stan previously starred in “I, Tonya,” opposite Oscar nominee Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding.
Premieres on Hulu Feb. 2.
