“‘The Green Hornet and Kato’ – Leigh Whannell is negotiating to Direct the upcoming film”
According to a recent report from Deadline, director Leigh Whannell is negotiating to helm The Green Hornet and Kato for Universal.
Following his work on 2020’s The Invisible Man, which Universal Pictures released to critical acclaim and box office success before the COVID-19 pandemic, Whannell is said to have had the upper hand once he entered the running for the upcoming Universal film.
When Universal optioned the rights to a movie based on the character from Amasia Entertainment, work on The Green Hornet and Kato got underway in the spring of 2020. The upcoming movie hasn’t received a lot of publicity, but screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible) has already submitted a script that, according to Deadline, the studio likes a lot. The studio is hoping to find a director soon so that pre-production can begin.
The Green Hornet and Kato: Plot
The Daily Sentinel’s owner and publisher, Britt Reid, is at the centre of the narrative. Reid transformed into The Green Hornet, a vigilante crime fighter sought after by the police and feared by the criminal underworld, armed with information from his sources, cool weapons, a supercar known as The Black Beauty, and his dependable sidekick Kato.
The Green Hornet and Kato: About characters
In 1936, George W. Trendle and Fran Striker first developed the characters. Before being adapted into 1940s Universal movie serials, The Green Hornet was one of the most well-liked early radio adventure programmes, predating Superman. Bruce Lee (Kato) was first introduced to American audiences in a 1966 TV series produced by 20th Century Fox TV.
