The governor declared a state of emergency for western Kentucky counties after a tornado struck several locations
The governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, announced a state of emergency in several western Kentucky counties because of extensive damage.
The Kentucky National Guard and the Kentucky State Police have been summoned by him.
In a statement, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) said they are reacting to a significant tornado outbreak in Western Kentucky. There have been reports of significant devastation.
“While no fatalities have been confirmed at this time, loss of life is expected. Multiple agencies from across the purchase area are responding.”
Governor Beshear tweeted a video saying, “This is going to be some of the worst tornado damage we’ve seen in a long time,”
he also promises to visit the impacted areas personally as soon as it is safe to do so.
At 5:00 a.m., the Governor will provide a statement on the situation.
