The Gap has filed a $2 million lawsuit against Kanye West

The former business partners of Kanye West at The Gap have filed a $2 million lawsuit against him. Court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com reveal the specifics of the case brought forth by Art City Center against The Gap Inc. for breach of contract.

According to Art City Center, the commercial corporation that owns the 6th Street building in Los Angeles, The Gap signed a one-year contract beginning on April 1, 2021, and ending on March 31, 2022. Subsequently, in 2022, the lease was renewed.

A total of $104,666.67 in rent and an additional $8,333 in monthly parking fees were agreed upon, as stated in the lawsuit against The Gap. The agreement strictly forbade any alterations to the structure.

Art City Center claims, however, that The Gap made various unauthorized alterations to the property, and that these changes have not been reversed.

There is an accruing holding damage debt of $822,000 owed to Art City Center as of September 2022, at a rate of $164,000. They’ve upped their damage demand to a grand sum of $1.5 million.

Concurrent with Kanye West’s decision to end his agreement with The Gap due to the company’s failure to meet its responsibilities, the complaint was filed. Defending themselves against Art City Center’s lawsuit, The Gap claimed that “supervening legal requirements” precluded it from fulfilling the lease in full.

The Gap has filed a countersuit against Kanye West, claiming the two companies collaborated on new apparel lines in June of 2020. According to the corporation, Kanye broke the lease by making changes to the building without permission.

Gap claims that $2 million in repairs and restoration costs were incurred as a direct result of Kanye’s changes, and as a result, the company is demanding compensating damages from Kanye.

Kanye West’s silence thus far has left the outcome of the cases in question. Both parties’ bank accounts will be affected by the case’s verdict, which will also clarify their respective roles and the consequences of their business dealings.
