The Destiny 2 community is disappointed with the new Trials of Osiris matchmaking
The community’s reaction to Destiny 2’s revamped version of Trials has been mixed in recent weeks. The Guardians witnessed a complete overhaul of Saint-14’s reputation system, a completely new matchmaking pool, and the ability to play the game mode solo.
Bungie may have made too many changes over the weekend, as the community is dissatisfied with the results.
It is safe to say that the overall changes in Season 15 were more positively received than what Destiny 2 Trials brought to the table previously. More people were succeeding flawlessly, with more than 60% of the players gaining access to the lighthouse for the first time. That was the case until Bungie changed the matchmaking pool again this weekend.
As a result, earning flawless has gone from doable to near impossible for newer players.
The matchmaking in Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris is receiving criticism from the community.
Bungie’s most recent TWAB included a separate section discussing overall thoughts on Trials, upcoming changes, and more. If anyone went flawless in Destiny 2 Season of the Lost, that player would have been moved to a separate matchmaking pool for the Sunday reset.
Bungie, on the other hand, didn’t like the idea and thought the timing was ‘awkward’ for anyone living outside of the Americas. To make the matchmaking pool more skill-based, they propose removing the flawless pool entirely.

Bungie recently updated a system in Destiny 2 Trials that matches players with other Guardians who have the same number of wins in the early stages. Furthermore, those with 70+ wins on weekends will be matched against 10x ‘flawless.’
First, after a loss, the Guardians could reset their cards and restart their pools with other Guardians who had the same number of wins. If a player wins three or five times and then resets their card, they will be matched against other players who have the same number of flawless wins or in total.
