Technoblade The Minecraft content creator has passed away after a courageous fight against cancer
His family released a public statement and video today announcing that Minecraft streamer and content producer Technoblade has passed away after a long fight with stage four cancer.
Techno announced last August that he had been diagnosed with cancer, and since then he has been providing intermittent updates to his followers while undergoing treatment and maintaining his YouTube channel.
The video was uploaded on June 30 and features Techno’s father reading a farewell letter titled “so long nerds” that was made for this such purpose. A last “thank you” to everyone who has supported the Minecraft star over the years, it was full with the creator’s typical caustic and frequently grim humour.
“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time. As those were the happiest years of my life,” Techno said.
“I hope you guys enjoyed my content and that I made some of you laugh. I hope you all go on to live long, prosperous, and happy lives because I love you guys. Technoblade out.”
Techno, whose real name is Alex, uses his video to thank his fans for helping him get through his treatment and explain that he has been using the proceeds from his merch and other “sell-out” efforts to pay for his siblings’ college education, should they want to go.
In the aftermath of Techno’s farewell message, his father explains how he had intended to create the video himself before his death but was unable to due to his failing health. His father claims that his son penned the note before dying some eight hours later.
“He was the most amazing kid anyone could ever ask for,” Technoblade’s father said. “I miss Technoblade. Thank you to all of you, for everything. You meant a lot to him.”
