Taylor Swift's new album 'folklore' is a massive hit on Spotify and Apple Music

Taylor Swift’s newly released folklore is a hit – on all streaming platforms and also in stores.

Taylor Swift’s eighth studio album, Folklore, even broke the global record for first-day album streams on Spotify by a female artist with a staggering 80.6 million streams.

According to Republic Records, Swift’s latest album, titled Folklore, has sold over 1.3 million copies globally in 24 hours.

Republic Records revealed that the surprise album from Swift, released on July 24, was streamed over 80 million times on Spotify in its first day of release, the highest first-day streams for any female artist on Spotify (80.6 million, to be exact). A combined total of streams for all songs on the album in its first day out — also most of the Spotify’s top 15 songs all weekend were from folklore. The album also received over 35 million streams on Apple Music and was the most-streamed pop album on that platform on the day it released.

Folklore was also the most-streamed pop album on Apple Music on its first day of release, with 35.47 million streams.

The 30-year-old singer’s eighth studio album Folklore dropped at midnight on 23 July. It came as a surprise to her fans worldwide.

The American singer also shared her vision for the album on social media. “It started with imagery. Visuals that popped into my mind and piqued my curiosity. Stars drawn around scars. A cardigan that still bears the scent of loss twenty years later. Battleships sinking into the ocean, down, down, down. The tree swing in the woods of my childhood.”

She went on to write that the images in her head “grew faces or names and became characters” in the writing process. “I found myself not only writing my own stories, but also writing about or from the perspective of people I’ve never met, people I’ve known, or those I wish I hadn’t.”

Swift later wrote that, in isolation, her imagination has “run wild” and this album is the result, “a collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness.”

Looking at the above stats only indicates that the Swift fans have poured their love in abundance.
