“Suzume no Tojimari, – Crunchyroll Announced Makoto Shinkai’s next film, will release in 2023”

Suzume no Tojimari, the next film from Your Name director Makoto Shinkai, will be distributed by Crunchyroll.

CoMix Wave Films, Makoto Shinkai, and TOHO have chosen to collaborate with Crunchyroll on the next masterpiece with humility and honour,” said Crunchyroll, LLC President Rahul Purini. “It’s also an incredible opportunity to co-distribute this film across a wide range of territories with our partners at Sony Pictures Entertainment and Wild Bunch International.” We are confident that both animation fans and general audiences will enjoy this prestigious film, and we can’t wait to see how it is received around the world in theatres, festivals, and for award consideration.”

    Suzume no Tojimari: Release date

The film will premiere in Japan on November 11 of this year, and it will be released in theatres across the globe in early 2023. The release date has yet to be determined.

    Suzume no Tojimari: Synopsis

Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu (southwestern Japan), where she meets a young man who says, “I’m looking for a door,” according to the synopsis. “What Suzume discovers is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins, as if protected from whatever disaster struck.” Suzume reaches for the knob, seemingly drawn by its strength… Doors start to open one by one across Japan, wreaking havoc on anyone who comes close. To avoid further disaster, Suzume must close these portals.”
