‘Spy x Family’ Anime Trailer Reveals WIT Studio and Cloverworks’ Adaptation of Acclaimed Action-Comedy Manga
Grab your wife and child and get ready for some espionage, because a new anime will be released next year. The trailer for Toho Animation’s upcoming anime Spy x Family has been released. Spy x Family, based on the manga of the same name, will tell the storey of a master spy who must infiltrate an elite private school, but to do so, he must recruit a woman and a child to pose as his family. The premiere date has yet to be announced, but the trailer promises a 2022 release.
Tatsuya Endo’s manga series debuted on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website in March 2019, with an English version following suit on MANGA Plus. More than 11 million copies of the popular manga have been sold. The manga’s critical reception has matched its readership, with Da Vinci magazine naming it number one in the web manga category for their August 2019 Next Manga Awards and Polygon including it on their list of the best comics of 2019. For its thought-provoking themes, Brutus magazine named it one of the “Most Dangerous Manga.”

According to the anime’s official website (via Anime News Network), the anime will be directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and co-animated by Wit Studio (Attack on Titan) and CloverWorks (Persona 5: The Animation, Ace Attorney Season 2). (Mobile Suit Gundam UR, Hunter x Hunter, Dororo). Kazuaki Shimada (Promised Neverland) designed the characters, and [K]NoW NAME produced the music (Fairy Gone, Sakura Quest). So far, Takuya Eguchi (Haikyu, Gosick) has been announced as the voice of Lord Forger.
The animation appears to be on par with what fans have come to expect from WIT Studio, the anime studio that never sleeps, releasing at least one new and exciting anime each season for the past few years. Combine that with one of the most talked-about recent manga, and we have what is arguably the most anticipated new anime of 2022.
This new anime appears to be full of excitement and intrigue, with dark alleys, gunfights, and much more peppered throughout the trailer.
