Spotify has said that Apple is ruining its audiobook store
Spotify has stated that Apple is “choking competition” in its audiobook store, which is causing it to fail. The constraints imposed by Apple continue to prohibit Spotify and other applications from providing a seamless user experience, the firm stated in a blog post. These limitations are harmful not only to users but also to creators of content. The platform claims that Apple’s limits are “far too convoluted and confusing” and that they vary “arbitrarily, making it impossible to grasp” them.
But because of the buying flow the company has been forced into, this chance is being stifled too much, even though the market for audiobooks has a lot of room to grow and new listeners could discover more authors.
Apple continues to dictate what online innovation looks like, doing serious harm to the internet economy by choking competition and the imagination of app developers. “Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify, has shown time and again that it will not self-regulate and has no real incentive to change,” said Daniel Ek, CEO of Apple.
“With our audiobooks launch, Apple has once again proven just how brazen it is willing to be with its App Store rules, constantly shifting the goalposts to disadvantage its competitors,” he added.
During this time, the company recently announced that it had bought Kinzen, a Dublin-based company that is known around the world as a leader in protecting online communities from harmful content.
