Spotify doesn’t appear to be recommending Joe Rogan podcast episodes to new listeners
According to a new study, Spotify does not appear to be recommending Joe Rogan Experience podcast episodes to new listeners, despite pushing other original podcasts. Rogan stated in September 2020 that after a decade of his podcast is available on all platforms, Spotify had handed him the bag and was making it exclusive to their platform. It’s been a bumpy path since the relationship began, with fans wanting things to return to how they were with YouTube highlights and Spotify coming under fire for hosting some of Rogan’s controversial views.
The statistics show that the cooperation has been a win-win for both parties, with Spotify gaining a large number of new customers while Rogan maintains his position as having the largest podcast in the world. However, something does not appear to be right.
Joe Rogan podcasts are not being promoted to new listeners by Spotify
While Rogan’s episodes are frequently near the top of Spotify’s podcast statistics, the platform does not appear to be recommending them to listeners. According to statistics from over 90,000 podcast episodes collected by Dan Misener of Bumper, Spotify recommends approximately 14% of shows under its podcast network, with 8% being exclusives and the remaining 6% being either originals or adaptations. According to the findings, episodes of the Joe Rogan Experience are not included. Users are being directed to episodes of other podcasts in which Rogan has been a guest.
