“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s Villain -Gets First Image, Cast and more”
The official Twitter account for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One has revealed the principal enemy of the next sequel, the Spot.
The Spot, played by Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited), employs interdimensional gateways distributed across his body to influence his enemies’ attacks. Al Milgrom and Herb Trimpe designed The Spot, which first appeared in Spectacular Spider-Man #97. He’s appeared in series such as Spider-Man: The Animated Series and the 2017 Spider-Man show, but this is the villain’s first significant film debut. His design can be seen in the image below:
“The Spot is one of the deepest cuts in Spider-rogue Man’s gallery for folks who aren’t obsessive canon nerds,” co-director Kemp Powers revealed. “However, he possesses a superpower that has piqued the interest of our entire team: his entire body is covered in interdimensional portals that can transport him anywhere he desires.”
