“Spellbound – Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, and More Stars to Join Animated film from Apple Original and Skydance”
According to Deadline, Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are reuniting after the biographical drama Being the Ricardos last year. The two have officially agreed to lend their voices to Spellbound, an upcoming fantasy animated film from Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation.
Spellbound is an animated musical about a young girl who must break the spell that has divided her kingdom in two. Vicky Jenson (Shrek) directs from a script co-written by Mulan’s Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin, as well as Linda Woolverton (The Lion King).
Kidman and Bardem will play the parents of Rachel Zegler’s Princess Ellian, with Kidman playing Lumbria’s kind and just, yet hyper-precise Queen, and Bardem playing Lumbria’s boastful, yet big-hearted King Solon.
Other cast members include John Lithgow as royal advisor Minister Bolinar, Jenifer Lewis as royal advisor Minister Nazara Prone, Nathan Lane and André De Shields as The Oracles of the Sun and Moon, whom Ellian seeks out in order to break the spell on her parents and the kingdom, and Jordan Fisher as Callan, a young nomad.
Alan Menken’s music will be featured in Spellbound, which will reunite him with long-time collaborators and fellow Grammy winners, lyricist Glenn Slater and former Walt Disney Music President Chris Montan, who worked together on The Little Mermaid and Tangled.
