Sons Of The Forest gets an surprisingly excellent start
Launching on Steam Early Access today, February 23, survival game Sons of the Forest has gotten off to a roaring start. SteamDB statistics suggest that the game’s initial population quickly grew to over 100,000 users at once. As of this writing, there are over 200k people online at once.
Sons of the Forest is also now the most popular game on Steam.
As Endnight wanted to collaborate with the community to create Sons of the Forest, it decided to release the game on February 23 instead of further postponing it. The development team has stated, “There is still so much more we want to add: things, new features, gameplay balance, and more.”
The studio’s first game, The Forest (2018), followed a lone survivor of an aircraft accident who crashes in a mystery forest and must struggle to survive against mutants. Sons of the Forest is a sequel to that film. Endnight stated that the game’s popularity was due in part to player input, thus the studio planned to implement a similar strategy with Sons of the Forest.
There is a $30 price tag for Sons of the Forest right now. The game will be on Early Access for 6-8 months according to Endnight, however this estimate is subject to change.
Single-player and multiplayer modes for up to eight players are both available in the current release of Sons of the Forest. Endnight has promised to address player complaints and make adjustments to the game’s basic mechanics and balance as time progresses.
