Solo Leveling artist DUBU passed due to cerebral hemorrhage from an unspecified chronic illness
The musician DUBU, real name Jang Sung-Rak, passed away on July 23, according to REDICE Studio. The Solo Leveling artist passed away as a result of a brain hemorrhage brought on by an unnamed chronic condition. His family and close friends were present at his funeral yesterday. The studio thanked fans for their support of Jang-Sung Rak and mentioned that the musician loved both his work and his followers in the announcement. A translated version of the memo was released by Yen Press and reads,

The CEO of REDICE was DUBU. The Korean studio had a reputation for turning various books into online Webtoon series. He initially began his career by contributing to many manga and manwha series. Many people commended Manwha’s art style for Solo Leveling’s graphics and energetic motion. The Manwha series continues to be a huge international hit today. REDICE also created the manga adaptations of Space Dandy and The Island of Giant Insects. Over 48 million people had viewed the manwha as of the time this post was published.
The manwha version of Chugong’s Solo Leveling novel series was created by DUBU. The Webtoon manga began in March 2018 and ran through December 2021. The Manwha and novel series was released in English by Yen Press. A-1 Pictures (and Crunchyroll) will be producing an anime version of the series in 2023. The tale of Sung Jinwoo, a young man who is the weakest hunter, is told in Solo Leveling. When he finds a program called System that enables him to level up his powers beyond his wildest dreams, his life is abruptly changed.
