SkyWest Airlines’ system has been restored, however hundreds of flights have still been cancelled
SkyWest Airlines, based in Utah, grounded multiple flights due to a “internal server outage,” company officials said in a statement to 2News.
SkyWest is the largest regional airline in the United States, serving Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines.
There was no information available regarding what caused the outage or how many flights were affected.
In a tweet to passengers, United Airlines originally confirmed the outage, stating it was “impacting departures with our flying partner, Skywest.”
The message continued by stating that the company’s IT teams were rebooting their servers.
2News reached out to the company’s headquarters in St. George. Officials released a brief statement regarding the situation.
“SkyWest is experiencing an internal server outage and our IT teams are working to resolve the issue. We apologize to customers for the inconvenience and are working to resume normal operations as quickly as possible,” the statement read.
