Shania Twain, in her late 50s, is ‘unashamed’ to show off her nude body

Shania Twain says it’s “liberating” to show off her “new figure” as she ages. The 57-year-old singer revealed that stripping down for the “Waking Up Dreaming” cover helped her deal with years of negative self-perception.

“This is me expressing my truth. I’m comfortable in my own skin, and this is the way I am sharing that confidence,” The singer told People that it boosted her self-esteem tremendously.

“I am a woman in my late 50s, and I don’t need to hide behind the clothes. I can’t even tell you how good it felt to do nude shooting. I was just so unashamed of my new body, you know, as a woman that is well into my menopause. I’m not even emotional about it; I just feel okay about it.”

Twain covered her nude chest with her arms while modelling a cowboy hat and bright pointy-toe boots for the cover.

Despite the fact that the photograph has angered some of her fans, the country-pop icon is no stranger to taking risks in the music industry.

According to the singer, “From the very beginning – the very first video – I was dumping the bra.” This refers to her decision to not wear a bra in the music video for “What Made You Say That” in 1993.

Twain continued, saying she would not “regress” to her shy self now that she had seen her “courage” was “dulling.”

“I am embracing my body as it changes, as I should have from my childhood to my teens, as I should be from my taut, 20s and 30-year-old self, to my menopausal body. I’m not going to be shy about it. I want to be courageous about it, and I want to share that courage in the artwork that I am directing.”
