Season 4 of The Crown Saw Searches for Princess Diana Increase by 1566%

Even though it is about the British royal family, make no mistake: The Crown is a global phenomenon. As a result, it is opening the world up to the royals, the way they live, and the controversies which come along for the ride.  

On November 15, the fourth season of the show was released on Netflix. This season covered events that ranged between 1979 to 1990, as it continued the storied history of Queen Elizabeth II and her family. It also introduced two new main characters to the star-studded ensemble: Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana. 

This proved to be a smash hit with viewers. Thanks to research by Betway, the evidence is for all to see. Two weeks after the release of The Crown’s fourth season, the number of searches on Google for Princess Diana increased by an incredible 1566%. 

Additional trends from season four

In the United Kingdom, Princess Diana was an icon during the 80s and 90s. She was seen as a rebellious figure against uptight royal protocol, a person that average folk could relate to – particularly when she was matched up against other members of the family. 

As a result, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the rest of the world took a keen interest in Diana after The Crown’s fourth season dropped on Netflix. Yet, she wasn’t the only royal to receive a lot of attention on Google. Her husband at the time, Prince Charles, also received a massive 1425% bump in search volume. 

It wasn’t just the royal family that generated a large number of queries, either. Just three days after the series premiere, the search volume increase for Margaret Thatcher almost matched Diana’s with 1540%. 

Of course, Queen Elizabeth II was part of the Google search spike – as she is after every season of the show. In fact, queries about “United Kingdom’s Elizabeth II” come with an average 433% increase on Google after the first week of each season launch. 

How else does the show influence people?

As the previous statistics demonstrate, The Crown certainly gets people invested in the royal family – to the point they are searching for more information about the family members being portrayed in the series. 

However, this isn’t the only way it can influence fans of the show. Statistics reveal that it has even resulted in an upward curve for specific fashion trends. For example, searches on Google for the common term “turtleneck” have increased by 7% since The Crown debuted. 

The series has also been persuasive on what people feel about the royal family. As for British people that have watched The Crown, some of them now have a more positive outlook on the royal family. Research says 35% of them view the family as “a little better” or even “much better” now. Certain individuals have also gained a greater appreciation from the same audience. To demonstrate this, Prince Charles is viewed with more empathy by 34% of The Crown watchers.

Despite the fact that Lohan disabled comments on her Instagram post, fans reacted positively to her news on Twitter, where she re-shared her statement.

Another fan wrote the newly engaged pair a beautiful email on what they might expect in the future.

“I can’t wait for the incredible amount of love that’s about to flood over you,” they wrote. “Being engaged is like something I’ve never experienced before in life. The amount of love that comes from this moment is indescribable. Congratulations you two!”

“This made me tear up this is what life is about I am so happy for you life is about the adventure It’s about the connections we create sending all of the love and light to you both,” a third person commented.

“I wish you the best of luck, and a love like my husband and I have, Lindsay!” wrote another person.

According to The Independent, the “Mean Girls” star and Shammas have been dating for two years but have kept their romance covert. Shammas is said to be a resident of Dubai, where Lohan has lived for the past seven years. Shammas is an assistant vice president of Credit Suisse, a multinational investment bank.

Popular and visionary fashion designer Virgil Abloh died at the age of 41

After a quiet battle with cancer, Virgil Abloh, the prolific fashion designer known for dressing artists like Kanye West and Kid Cudi, died on Sunday. He was 41 years old at the time.

Abloh’s death was revealed via Instagram and a tweet from LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton, where Abloh had been the men’s artistic director since 2018.

“We are shocked after this terrible news. Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and a great wisdom,” In a statement sent out via Twitter, LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault remarked.

According to a statement on Abloh’s Instagram account, he has been discreetly battling cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive kind of cancer that affects the heart.

“He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture. Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered “According to the statement.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abloh’s career made history in the fashion business when he became the first Black artistic director to manage a division of a prominent French design firm.

He later went on to launch the Milan-based streetwear label Off-White. Abloh was also Kanye West’s creative director for a long time.

Abloh’s dresses became viral this year after Kid Cudi, the singer and rapper, wore them on “Saturday Night Live.” The outfits were created as a memorial to Kurt Cobain, the late singer.

“Virgil designed the dress for me. I told him I wanted to show love to Kurt [with] a floral print sundress and this man made a masterpiece. Thank You @virgilabloh ur a f—– genius!! Love you man we did it!!!” Kid Cudi wrote at the time.

Abloh was motivated to create routes for more equality in art and design, according to an Instagram message.
