Season 3 of ‘The Wheel of Time’ has been approved
The Wheel of Time: Origins panel at San Diego Comic-Con revealed that the hit series has been renewed for a third season ahead of the debut of Season 2 on Prime Video. The Wheel of Time, based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling novels, aired on the streaming service in November 2021. It is reassuring to know that the series will return for a second season as the second season begins to unfold, just as it was when the first season began.
When asked about the future of the series, showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins said, “I’m so thrilled that we’ll be making a third season of The Wheel of Time. The Shadow Rising has always been my favourite book in the series, so being able to bring it to television and introduce new audiences to the stories that made me fall in love with these books in the first place is such an honor, and something I’ve been working toward since I first pitched the show years and years ago.”
The fourth volume in Jordan’s series, The Shadow Rising, incorporates plot points from multiple books at a time as the cast goes on their perilous adventure, as seen in the television series.
Rosamund Pike, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Zoe Robins, Madeleine Madden, and Daniel Henney are all returning for Season 2. “Mat Cauthon” has taken a darker turn, as was hinted at in the season finale, and Dónal Finn will take over the role for Season 2. Ayoola Smart, Ceara Coveney, Natasha O’Keeffe, Gregg Chillingirian, and Meera Syal are some of the other newcomers to Season 2.
Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of Red Eagle Entertainment, Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke (Shazam!, Goosebumps, Winter Dragon), and Marigo Kehoe (Winter Dragon) are also executive producers.
