‘Search Party’ Gets a Season Finale Release Date and First Look Photos
The fifth and last season will premiere on HBO Max in January.
The release date for the fifth and final season of HBO Max’s dark comedy-thriller Search Party has been confirmed. The last season will begin with the new year, with all ten episodes premiering on January 7th, 2022.
The first two seasons of Search Party aired on TBS in 2016 and 2017. The show lay on the back burner for a while before getting picked up by HBO Max, which aired seasons three and four. Search Party follows Dory (Alia Shawkat), Drew (John Reynolds), Portia (Meredith Hagner), and Elliott (John Early) as they search for a missing girl during a tumultuous investigation fueled by terrifying theories, a botched unintentional murder, and a media circus of a trial. Dory was the abductee in the fourth season, and her pals were pushed back into their investigative roles.
Dory’s kidnapping and near-death experience will be the focus of the last season of the dark comedy, as she joins forces with Tunnel Quinn. Jeff Goldblum’s new persona is touted as a charming tech billionaire. As their characters are dispatched on a harrowing voyage, Hagner, Early, and Reynolds return to the cast. Kathy Griffin, John Walters, Aparna Nancherla, Angela Trimbur, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Greta Titelman, Joe Castle Baker, Larry Owens, and Michelle Badillo join Goldblum in recurrent and guest appearances. Marc and Chantal, played by Jeffery Self and Clare McNulty, return as recurrent characters.
Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rodgers, and Michael Showalter created Search Party, and they act as executive producers alongside Jax Media’s Lilly Burns and Tony Hernandez. The series’ showrunners are Bliss and Rodgers. The fifth and last season of Search Party will premiere on HBO Max on January 7.
