Rosie O’Donnell is not happy about making fun of Anne Heche, as she struggles for life
As a result of the actress’s talk with Barbara Walters in 2001, Rosie O’Donnell wishes she had never mocked Anne Heche on stage.
A day after Heche was critically injured in a violent vehicle crash, the 60-year-old comedian rushed to TikTok to offer her sympathies to the family of the actress.
O’Donnell said “I can’t stop thinking about this Anne Heche accident and how horrifying the whole thing is and feeling bad that I made fun of her when she was talking to Barbara Walters about having a relationship with space aliens,”
“If we have an honest discussion about drunk driving, we find out just how prevalent it is and that’s terrifying, isn’t it?”
“I wonder if she’s OK. I think it’s a miracle that she didn’t kill anyone … and I hope she survives. But wow, what a tragic tale. That car was on fire for a long time, they say.”
Afterwards, the former “View” host urged her fans to seek help “if [they] are struggling” with alcoholism.
She suggested, “Try it before it’s too late,”
“20/20” interviewer Barbara Walters first heard Heche talk about her “fantasy world” and second personality Celestia back in 2001, when she claimed she was sexually raped by her father, Donald, as a child.
Heche informed Walters “I’m not crazy. But it’s a crazy life. I was raised in a crazy family and it took 31 years to get the crazy out of me,”
She explained her second personality had super natural powers “I had a fantasy world that I escaped to. I called my other personality Celestia,. I believed I was from that world. I believed I was from another planet. I think I was insane.”
A year later, in 2002, at a benefit for Ovarian Cancer Research held at Carolines Comedy Club in Times Square, O’Donnell allegedly made fun of Heche in an interview
The comic reportedly asked the audience, “What the hell kind of train wreck was that?” before making jokes about Heche her sexuality and her connection with Ellen DeGeneres..
“She couldn’t just say, ‘I was a lesbian for two years, it didn’t work out for me?’”
Heche has been struggling for her life since Friday, when her automobile “engulfed” in flames, leaving her with severe burns.
“Shortly after the accident, Anne Heche became unconscious, slipping into a coma,” her spokesperson told . “She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention.”
“If found intoxicated, [Heche] could be charged with misdemeanor DUI hit and run. No arrests have been made so far,” the post read.
It appears that Heche first slammed into an apartment complex’s garage, but witnesses report that she then rushed away before the residents could aid her.
