Rolling Stone’s 200 Greatest Singers of All Time list: Aretha Franklin has been ranked no. 1
After compiling the thoughts of the freelance writer and Rolling Stone staff, the publication released “The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time” on Monday. The list includes 200 of the greatest singers in the mainstream music industry over the course of a century. Aretha Franklin, who has won more than 18 Grammy awards and made history in 1987 by being the first American female vocalist to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has been chosen as the top performer among “The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.”
According to the list, Jungkook is rated 191st. Rolling Stone noted that despite the fame he attained at such a young age, Jung Kook is considered to be incredibly industrious and humble. He is also a strong performer and the youngest member of BTS. IU was ranked 135th on the list as one of the greatest artists of the past 100 years, surpassing pop singer Christina Aguilera (141st), iconic country musician Merle Haggard (138th), and eight-time Grammy winner Lauryn Hill (136th).
The song “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston, commonly referred to as the “Queen of Pop,” was voted second. A list of “The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time” was previously produced by Rolling Stone Magazine in 2008. After fourteen years, the list has grown to 200 names and includes some of the best modern artists of recent generations. Aretha Franklin took the top number one spot, with Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Billie Holiday, and Mariah Carey all making up the top five.
